Do I have to leave Dutchie, Treez, Flowhub, Cova or BLAZE?
No. BudAlly reads from your POS through its API, Secure Data Share, a nightly export, or Metrc. Sales keep ringing in your POS, which stays the Metrc system of record for receipts.
My POS isn’t on the list.
Connect with a nightly CSV export plus Metrc today. Writes become StoreHome tasks (“change it in your POS, then confirm”). Five requests for the same POS move an adapter onto the roadmap.
What happens if I switch POS later?
Your ledger, loyalty balances, members and consent proofs live in BudAlly, not the register, so they come with you. The migration workspace maps customers, carries the new-customer flag, and needs two approvers to cut over. Any POS → any POS.
Will you build your own POS and then push me onto it?
An optional BudAlly register is on the 2027 roadmap for stores that want one. It will never be required, and no module depends on it. That's in the neutrality commitment.
What the AI does (and doesn’t)
Will it change prices, send emails or move inventory on its own?
Never. Agents draft into an approval queue with evidence, a confidence score and the rules they checked. A named person approves each item; there is no “approve all”. Executed actions run under the approver’s own credential and are logged.
What if the world changes between the draft and my approval?
Every proposal carries a precondition hash. If your POS changed a price or a manifest was edited after the draft, the proposal is marked Superseded and can’t be approved until it re-runs.
“It learns” — learns what, and where does that live?
Rules like “Great Lakes bills pre-rolls per 5-pack” or “shelf = cost × 2.1” are stored as versioned, approved rules in a governance tab you can read and edit. Nothing lives in a hidden model memory. Editing a rule creates a new version; past proposals keep the old one.
Is this just a chatbot wrapped around my POS API?
A connector is a checkbox. The product is the package-level ledger that reconciles every system to Metrc, the versioned state rule packs that gate every draft, and the modules the drafts land in — menu, loyalty, manifests, books, people. The chat is optional.
Can I point my own AI (Claude, ChatGPT) at BudAlly?
Yes, through BudAlly MCP. Your agent gets read tools and draft tools. Every draft lands in the same approval queue; there are no execute tools to give it.
Data and privacy
Who owns the data?
You do. Ledger, members, consent proofs and documents export in open formats on every plan. We don’t sell it, share it, or train on it. Model providers are held to 30-day-or-less retention with no training.
Where does the competitor pricing data come from?
Licensed market data (Headset, where licensed for your state), your own in-store price checks, and an anonymised network median with at least 8 contributors. We do not scrape Weedmaps, Leafly or Dutchie menus — it breaches their terms — and uploads with scraper provenance are rejected.
Do you benchmark me against other stores?
Only if you opt in, only with 8 or more contributors, and never with rows from Dutchie-connected stores (their developer terms). Any cell with fewer than 8 shows “—, k < 8”.
Are you SOC 2 certified?

States and compliance
Which states?
Rule packs are live for Michigan, California and New York. Any Metrc state connects today with a pack on request; BioTrack and other track-and-trace systems are on the roadmap. See state coverage.
What happens when a rule isn’t in the pack?
The check returns UNKNOWN and routes to a named person in your company. No report, draft or message is generated until they decide. We’d rather stop than guess with your license.
Does BudAlly write to Metrc?
Only from the Approvals queue, under the approver’s own Metrc user key. Agents create no Metrc writes. Tag mismatches are held and a corrected invoice is requested from the vendor; tags are never “fixed”.
How do you handle the April 2026 rescheduling?
Every receipt is tagged by license type, so medical and adult-use activity stay separate through cohorts, promo ROI and the accounting close — the split dual-license operators now need for 280E. Confirm treatment with your CPA.
Pricing and contract
Is the audit really free?
Yes. Read-only connection, one overnight run, one briefing you keep. No card, no sales call. Revoke the key afterwards if you want.
Is there a contract or lock-in?
Monthly plans cancel any time. Annual plans take Placeholder: [X]% off. Founding stores lock their rate for Placeholder: [TERM]. Your data exports whether you stay or go.
What counts as a store?
One retail license at one address. Delivery-only, cultivation and manufacturing licenses are priced on Chain Ops. Brands, distributors and CPA firms are on the Network plan.
Modules
How do online orders reach my register?
Every sale must ring in your POS so the Metrc receipt is created there. Where the POS has an order API (Treez, Cova, BLAZE, Meadow) the order is injected; on Dutchie it’s a staff handoff with receipt match-back. The path per store is set by the adapter’s capability manifest.
Can I use loyalty without the storefront, or delivery without loyalty?
Yes. Modules are independent on top of the ledger. The only requirement for any of them is the read-only Compliance layer.
Do you replace Onfleet, Alpine IQ, springbig or my accountant?
Dispatch and loyalty modules can replace per-task dispatch and messaging tools if you choose; you can also keep them. BudAlly never replaces your accountant — it gives them a close they can trace to a package tag.
